Thanks, John for sharing your experience at T4G.

Very encouraging word...

"I too want to be faithful in sharing Christ with many or few. Oh, the pride, so real, so awful.

Thank God for an amazing Savior. Great messages at the conference, and I want to review them in a few weeks. I did that for the 2006 conference, and the messages sounded so fresh, almost like I hadn't heard them before. Anyway, thanks for your blog.

Hey John,

It was good to meet you and share the hotel room at T4G. I'm still digesting all that I took in at the conference while at the same time trying to catch up on things back home at the church. I showed the congregation a few pictures, including the "Statue of Liberation" from Memphis...which reminds me that I was going to send you that one via email...coming soon!

I started reading David Wells "The Courage to be Protestant" book as well. I think the best line so far is:

"Furthermore, what is to be gained if we are so intent in reaching out to the unchurched that we then unchurch the reached?”

Interesting observation/question!

My 2 suitcases both weighed in at 47.5 lbs, just under Northwest's 50 lb limit (meaning I went home with over 50lbs of books between the two, not to mention carry-on books). The Northwest check-in man was sure that the one suitcase felt way more than 50lbs and for a while I thought the Lord must be helping me out with the scales. Then it occurred to me, that is probably something the Lord would not do...He's not a big fan of unjust scales according to Proverbs! But Praise God it all fit! I also just barely made it under Canada Customs limit without having to pay taxes.

Hope to see you again sometime. God bless you as you reflect on the conference.

PS: Managed to pick up a mini Louisville Slugger bat with the Toronto Blue Jays on it for my son and gifts for the girls from the science center across the street.

PS2: I preached about "The Sluggard and the Diligent" last Sunday. I could not resist explaining that a lazy person from Louisville would be called...you guessed it...a Louisville Sluggard. Many groans resulted.

God bless!

Hi John,

Tim Challies wrote about David Wells book "The Courage to Be Protestant", and informed us that it is a synopsis of his other three works on postmodernism and culture. I was glad to hear that he has come out with a summary of sorts of those three books. I read them all, but I could strongly use a summary. They were excellent, thorough, and a wake up call to the church. Now I want to read this new one. Anyway, hope you had a great conference, and the Lord bless you. I'm the guy that sat across from you and up one row at BOB.

[...] Czech Press wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt From an article on Slate.com: Even agnostics and atheists who don’t accept Christ’s divinity can accept the general outlines of the Christmas story with little danger to their worldview.
